11.000 soldiers died during deathmarch

When the Japanese invaded the Philinpines 1942 they forced 78.000 prisoner of war to march in several days, whitout food or water.
Thousands of prisoners lost their life during the march.

On the morning of the 9th of April 1942 Edward P. King and his american forces gave after for the japanese soldiers that invaded the philipines.
Then 78.000 prisoners where in the group that the Japenese captured.
In six days the already weakened prisoners where forced to march about nine miles, they had nothing to eat or drink during this walk.
Those who stoped along the road where shot or got their head chopped off.
Civilians that throw food to the prisoners where also killed instantly.
If a captive collapsed he was executed or run over by the japanese trucks.
Know and then japanese soldiers would tie a rope around the prisoners neck and drag them after a truck.
It´s very hard to estimate the finaly number of deaths that occured on the trip, since some of the prisoners managed to escape along the way.
Historians belives that around eleventhousand was killed.
