Historians dosen´t know much about Edward Teachs life before he become Blackbeard, he is supposed to have been born in Bristol in 1680, but his name is nowhere to find in the churchrecords. perhaps he used a covername as many pirates in his time did.

Since it could be that he come from a wealthy family he could had his reasons to hide his identity. He did socialise whitout any problems whit the higher workingclasses and could both read and write.

Historian Kevin P. Duffus claims that Blackbeard was named Edward Beard and come from Northern Carolina and was the son of the wealthy farmer James Beard, but many historians dosen´t belive that since it lacks evidence.
