He finished the marathon race after 55 years.

The japanese marathonrunner Shizo Kanakuri was remebering the ”sunshineolympic” whit a mix of fear and joy.
He had some problems whit the bright european summernights and that it was taking part in about 30 degres heat.
But it was going to be worse, the car that where going to drive him from the hotell to the starting line never shoved up.
So Kanakuri had to run like a madman to get to the startinglines.
Therefore he couldn´t hang on to the leaders when the race started.
In Sollentuna (about halfway through the race) he stepped in to a yard beloning to the family Petré, he got a very nice reception. He was served cakes and leomande and is also said to have been allowed to rest a bit in the bed of Wife Petré.
After 55 years Kanakurri returned to Sweden and did pass the marathonstone that was raised to his memory in 1912, he also was giving the symbolic gesture of running to the finish at Stockholm Stadion.
