Martin Luther King Jr was born on January 15th 1929 and was killed on April 4th 1968. He was one of the leaders of the African-American Civil Rights Movements. Martin Luther King, Jr was the middle child of Reverend Martin Luther King Sr. and his wife Albert Williams King, his sibblings where his older sister Willie Christine King and his younger brother Alfred Daniel Williams King.
In March 1963 he delivered his famous ”I Have a dream” Speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington during the ”March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.
On March 29 1968 Martin Luther King jr went to Memphis to support a black sanitary strike, On April 3rd King delivered his ”I´ve been to the mountaintop” speech at the Madson Temple, the next day when Martin luther King jr was standing outside his room 306 at the Lorraine Motel at 6:01 pm a shot rang out, the bullet had entered through his right cheeck smashing his jaw and then traveled down his spinal cord before lodging in his shoulder. At 7:05 PM Martin Luther King jr was pronounced dead at St Joseph´s Hospital.
Escaped convict James Earl Ray was captured on Heatrow while trying to leave the United Kingdom on his way to Rhodesia.
James Earl Ray confessed to the murder and was senteced to 99 years in prison.
