Today we recived the tragic news that nascar driver and former Indy 500 champion Dan Wheldon has died after an accident during a race
Dan Wheldon won his second Indy 500 championship title just a few months ago and he stated that ”it was the unpredictable was the allure of the sport. This time, it was the unpredictable that lead to a great disaster.
Dan Wheldon was flown to hospital whit helicopter where doctors tried to save his life, but they couldn´t make it. Two hours after the crash did the other drivers recive the news of the crash.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family,
said Indycars CEO Randy Bernard
After the news the drivers returned to the track and drove five laps to honor their dead collegue
