On the 27 of August 1883 the idonesian volcano island Krakatoa was shaked by an explosion that could be heard miles away.
Cloudes of ashes where thrown 8 miles in the atmosphere and circled around the globe.
When the island collapsed there where 40 meters high tsunamiwaves created that destroyed 163 villages and citys on Java and Sumatra. About 36 000 humans is estimated to have been killed.
It is said that ships , over a year, is keeping watch on the water so they wouldn´t collide whit debrise that was floating in the indic ocean.
The catastroph was famous because of the new invetion, the telegraph and the news where wired around the world. Another more violent outburst that had taken place on the island Tambora in 1815 is almost entierly forgotten.
