The Russian Tsar Ivan IV had a own force of private soldiers that where called opritjniki. Dressed in black clothes and hevealy armed they spread death and terror in Russia.
Ivan IV where a paranoid ruler and didn´t trust the ordinary army. In 1565 he could therefor order his personal army whit about 6.000 men, he had selected them himself and where him faitfull. The soldiers didn´t have any contact whit their familys. The soldiers had only one purpose, to make the Tsars will come through, the soldiers where just like the church free from pay taxes, during the seven years the soldiers where working thousands of Russians where killed, tortured or deported.
