Tomb of Apostle found in Turkey

Its belived that the tomb of Saint Philip, one of the 12 apostlesof Jesus Christ, could have been found in southwestern Turkey, acordingto Italian archaeologists who have been excavating the area for many years.

It was believed that the tomb of St. Philip was on Martyrs’ Hill, but we found no traces of him in that area

said Francesco DÁndria director of the institute of Archaeological Heritage, Monuments and sites at Italy+s National Research Coucil In Lecce.

The tomb was found when researchers excavated a fifth century church about 40 meters away from the church decicated to the saint of Martyrs Hill.

Acording to D´Andria, the grave was moved from its first location in the St Philip chirch to the new church in the Bizantine era.

The tomb has not yet been opened.
