Was Ankarström innocent in the killing of Gustav III?

Ankarström where one of the konspirators and he knew what the others demanded of him. But its not sure that it was Anakarström that shot the Swedish king.
Gustav III said later that the shooter was a tal person, but Ankarström where short. Many researchers has since then been pointing out Adolf Ribbing as the real killer. Other belives that he helped the nervous Ankarström to shot by placing his hand against the kings back. Why Ankarström would claim he killed the king is whit this theories a mystery.
